We are desperate for bricklayers. Genuinely struggling to find them. If your son completes his apprenticeship he will have work for life, especially if he's any good. The trades shortage in this country is real.
Honestly? Better than it's been in years. There's a massive shortage of bricklayers across the UK, wages have gone up significantly, and a good brickie can run their own business within 5-10 years. The 'do tech' advice is fine but it's a crowded market. There'll never be an app that lays bricks.

CITB data backs this up. Bricklaying is one of the most in-demand trades in the UK construction sector. Starting wages for a qualified brickie are higher than most graduate starting salaries in the regions outside London. Tell him to go for it.
