Digital cards and tickets - are sites accepting them without the plastic card?

Had a lad with a valid CSCS digital card in the app and a CPCS renewal showing online, but the gatehouse still wanted the physical card. We got him in eventually but lost an hour. Are digital cards supposed to be enough in 2026 or is every site making its own rules?

Plant tickets are worse because every principal contractor has their own spreadsheet. I keep screenshots, but I still tell lads to carry the plastic card if they have it. Not because it is right, because it avoids a 7am argument.

From a site management side, the issue is audit trail. Digital is fine if the checker records the scheme, category and expiry properly. A blurry screenshot in WhatsApp is not verification.
