CPCS categories are split by size. Up to 10 tonnes is category A09, which covers forward tipping and swivel skip types. If your ticket only says 1 tonne that's not enough. You'll need a full A09 test for the larger machine. Don't get in it without the right card, the SM will send you straight back.
If they need you in the machine they'll sort the training. Any decent groundworks outfit knows that getting plant ops properly ticketed is worth it. Push for the company to fund it, shouldn't be coming out of your pocket.
Worth knowing NPORS also do a dumper ticket and it's accepted on most sites. Might be quicker and cheaper to book through them if there's a delay getting a CPCS test centre slot. As long as the site accepts NPORS (most do now).
