To be fair to the SM, if someone loses an eye on his watch it's his ticket. Annoying but I get it.
We had the same drama. Turned out the main contractor was getting pressure from the client. Tier 1s are absolutely paranoid about RIDDOR stats these days. Just keep your gear in order and don't give them a reason to have a go.

Mate it's been like this on every major contractor site since that HSE blitz in 2023. Our SM is the same. Just buy a spare lid and leave it in the van, job done.
