For under 25 workers you need a minimum of one appointed first aider (or emergency first aider) and a stocked first aid kit. The kit should have: 20 plasters, 2 sterile eye pads, 4 triangular bandages, 6 safety pins, 2 large sterile wound dressings, 6 medium wound dressings, 1 pair disposable gloves. That's the HSE guidance minimum. Most just buy a 50-person BS8599-1 kit from Screwfix and be done with it.
Also check your kit monthly, things go missing and plasters expire. Inspectors do check this. Had a mate get a prohibition notice on an otherwise tidy site because the first aid kit had basically been raided for plasters and never restocked.
Brilliant thanks. One of my guys has an EFAW so we're covered on that. Will grab a kit from Screwfix, makes sense.
Don't forget the kit needs to be in a visible, accessible spot and your F10 notification if you're over 30 working days or 500 person days. For a small extension you're probably fine without F10 but worth checking.
