Containment and sequence matter as much as the tool. If other trades keep walking through and opening doors, extraction will never keep up. We use zip walls, negative pressure where needed, and a clear exclusion zone until clean down is done.
Pre-cutting off site helps where you can. On refurb it is not always possible, but even batching the dusty work into one controlled window beats everyone doing five-minute cuts all day.
The lads will use extraction if it is quick to set up and bags/filters are actually stocked. If the vac is blocked or the hose is missing, they will find a quicker way. Sounds basic but that is where most sites fall over.
Good points. We are going to trial a morning check on vacs and consumables before the dusty work starts, not after someone complains. The missing hose comment is painfully familiar.
