Milwaukee M18 all day long. Had my drill for 4 years on site, dropped it off scaffolding twice, still going. The brushless motor is worth the extra few quid.
DeWalt XR is solid for the money and the battery platform is massive so you can share packs across tools. Personal preference really, both are good enough for apprentices who'll probably batter them anyway.
Buy from a proper tool dealer not the internet if you want warranty support sorted quick. Screwfix and Toolstation are fine for odds and ends but for the main kit go somewhere that'll actually deal with a replacement on site.
Been on Milwaukee for 7 years now. The service centre network is better in my experience and the warranty claims are less of a headache. Only thing is, make sure you get the Fuel version not the standard, night and day difference.
Cheers all, looks like Milwaukee M18 Fuel it is. Found a twin pack deal on Travis for £289 so that sorts it.
