Leica Lino L2 is excellent for drainage work because the cross line is very sharp and you can switch to single line mode. About £180 from Toolstation. Not a full rotating laser but for drainage trenches it's more than adequate.
Dewalt DW074KD is a cracking rotating laser, usually around £180-200 on a deal. Visible in daylight with the detector, IP67 rated, self levels up to 10 degrees. I've had mine two years and it's been in a skip lorry wash-down, fell off a tripod, and it's still spot on.
Site labourers and machinery are not kind to kit. Get one with a rubber over-mould body. The cheap plasticky ones from unbranded suppliers look fine until someone stands on them or they fall off the tripod.
